ELEMENTARY FAITH FORMATION
Children’s Liturgy of the Word
Each week during the 11:00 AM mass, we dismiss our young children to the Parish Hall for 10-15 minutes to hear the Word of God proclaimed at their age level. Historically and liturgically, it is part of the Mass. Adults are invited to come forward to share their time, talent, and faith.
Elementary Faith Formation
Classes are offered weekly, Sundays at 9:45 AM or Mondays at 4:30 PM, by our volunteer catechists who are committed to helping parents form their young children in the ways and teachings of Jesus Christ.
This introductory program is designed to make children aware of God’s love, to appreciate their own uniqueness, and to sense God’s presence around them.
Levels 1 & 2
This 2-year program is designed to prepare children to receive the sacraments of First Confession and First Eucharist.
The focus of this year’s study is faith, that is, the belief and trust in God. Children become familiar with the mysteries in our faith we profess through the Apostles’ Creed. They experience the Old and New Testament and God’s love for his people.
In Level 4, children learn through the Commandments and the Beatitudes how God calls us to live with Him forever. They are led to a greater appreciation of God’s gifts and calling to live in the spirit of love.
This year, children focus on the meaning of worshiping God in community. They discover that the worship of God includes prayer and service.
Level 6 begins to prepare children to internalize their faith as a personal decision, to begin preparation for Confirmation.
